At any point in history, people have needed relationships with other people to develop. Any job, service or function that is performed will at some point require collaboration between different individuals to progress.
Albert Einstein affirmed; “If you continue to do things as you have always done, you will end up with the same results.” Therefore, we need to surround ourselves with a community, which provides different knowledge or ways of seeing certain details, otherwise we get stuck at the same starting point.
This makes even more sense today as well. Over time, the areas of knowledge and research have increased, causing an ever greater diversification of studies. Currently, the new generations are adapting to be specialists in a specific area, rather than covering a great generic knowledge. This unambiguously entails the need to surround oneself with other people who are specialists in different subjects, forming a team in which each one contributes their own knowledge. Here, then, resides the vital importance of a community to develop professionally.
Therefore, belonging and relating in community is of great importance on a personal level. It is proven how results improve when the environment in which you work is favorable. A healthy environment in the community, in which you can establish a good connection with your co-workers, significantly helps to achieve the proposed objectives. Individually you can do a great job, but surrounding yourself with other people will keep you motivated when needed, ask questions or receive feedback. The community definitely helps on a personal level when we are not at our best.
It is key, however, that the people around you are the right ones. Ideally, they share things in common, similar motivations, and principles that go in the same direction. It is also very important that they be able to tell you what does not seem correct to them, and complement you in certain aspects that you saw in a different way. Let them be people who motivate you to keep working, to have new ideas, to move forward with new concepts that may initially seem unattainable. It is not necessary for the people in this community to become your best friends, but to bring out the best in you and push you to develop yourself, both professionally and personally.
How do we interact within the community at CoImpact Coliving?
When you stay at CoImpact Coliving in Barcelona, you become part of our Impacters family.
At the coliving, we do everything possible to make our Impacters feel comfortable and get to know the other people in our community. We present them personally upon arrival, informally, and we tell them who are the people who are part of our team so that that way they feel comfortable asking them for anything they need during their stay with us.
On the other hand, we have a physical space within the Coliving where everyone can see the profiles of our team members, connect with them on social networks, and connect with other people who are part of our community on our website.
On this same board, there is a space for anyone from the community to share with everyone an activity that they are attending or organizing, perhaps a walk through the city or an interesting weekend fair. That way, anyone who sees the board can find out about events in Barcelona both inside and outside the CoImpact Coliving community.
Last but not least, our team organizes monthly activities to unite the community around various themes or special dates in Barcelona or specific to our community. One of our favorite events is Entrepreneurial Confessions, a monthly event in which we open our space to confess, share, learn and grow together from our stumbling blocks and entrepreneurial experiences.
What other communities do we find in Barcelona?
Barcelona is the birthplace of many entrepreneurs, young and ambitious dreamers who want to innovate and fight for a better future.
On an offline level, Barcelona is probably one of the most suitable cities to find a community of this style, as there are more and more spaces dedicated to working together on new entrepreneurship projects.
At the online level it is also gaining more and more importance, especially as a result of the still present global pandemic in which we find ourselves.
Entrepreneurs and freelancers, in the same way as the rest of the people, have been faced with the impossibility of attending these communities or Hubs in person. However, they have not been left behind, but have sought new ways to stay connected. This has generated a wide mobilization in digital video calling platforms such as meet or zoom, which have become part of the day-to-day life of any entrepreneur.
