The city of Barcelona is one of the main destinations for digital nomads in Spain. Its airport, “El Prat” (IATA flight code: BCN), has become the second busiest in the country, only surpassed by the airport of the capital Madrid.

One of the main advantages of Barcelona Airport is that its terminals are located just 12 kilometers southwest of the city center. A great benefit for many travelers, saving their transfer time between the airport and the city center.

Transfer options from the Airport to the center of Barcelona

Replicating a publication from our parent company, Sweet Accommodations, we share this brief guide with various transfer options from El Prat Airport to the city center.

Taxi transfer

Each terminal is assigned a taxi rank. The approximate cost of a trip from El Prat Airport to the center of Barcelona varies between €27 – €37, depending on traffic, amount of luggage and travel time.

Any of our guests at CoImpact Coliving can book a private airport pick-up and drop-off directly to their accommodation. Book your transfer here.

Traveling by train

Barcelona metro by Ruben dos santos

Airport Terminal T2 connects directly with the city’s main train station.

If your arrival is at Terminal T1, you don’t have to worry, there is a free shuttle bus that connects both terminals at Barcelona – El Prat Airport in just 5 minutes.

Depending on your arrival station, the trip can take between 20 minutes (Sants station) or 25 minutes (Passeig de Gracia station).

The train has an estimated frequency of 30 minutes, the first one leaves the airport at 05:42 hrs and the last one at 23:38 hrs.

To go to CoImpact Coliving Bruc or CoImpact Coliving Mallorca, we personally recommend the following combination:
Train from Barcelona Airport to Sants. In Sants, change to the metro service, taking the blue line L5 to Verdaguer station. Our colivings are less than 5 minutes’ walk from the Verdaguer station.

Transder by Aerobus

The Aerobus connects El Prat Airport with the center of Barcelona in an approximate travel time of 30 minutes with a frequency of between 5 and 10 minutes (depending on the time of day). The single ticket costs €5.90 and the return ticket costs €10.20.

This service has two lines that connect with each airport terminal, Bus A1 with T1 and Bus A2 with T2.

Transfer by public bus

Barcelona airport has numerous public bus stations. The main ones are:

46 Pl. Espanya <-> Airport T1 & T2

L77 Hospital Comarcal M. Broggi <-> Airport T1 & T2

L99 Airport-Aparcaments empleats T1 <-> Santiago Rusiñol-Doctor Trueta

PR1 Airport T1 & T2 <-> El Prat de Llobregat

N16 (Night Bus) Rda. Universitat – Pl. Catalunya <-> Av. dels Eucaliptus – Av. de Bellamar

N17 (Night Bus) Ronda Universitat – Pl. de Catalunya <-> Terminal Airport T1

Transfer by metro

Travelers can reach the center of Barcelona via the metro (L9 – Orange Line), which connects to the main metro lines at various stations.

This metro line has a frequency of 7 minutes and stops at both terminals of the airport. To use it you must buy a suitable ticket that costs 4.60 euros.

In our opinion, this option is excellent if you are traveling to the south side of the city or to the Fira trade fair.

If you are coming to CoImpact Coliving from the airport, take metro line 9 (orange line) and get off at Collblanc station. From this station you take metro line 5 (blue line) towards Vall d’Hebron and get off at Verdaguer station.
